One of the most popular day trip from Bergen requires a scenic train ride on Bergen Railway to Myrdal where one changes to the world famous and spectacular Flam rail. The Flam rail is one of the steepest rail jouneys, with the train descending about 866 metres over a distance of 20 kms from Myrdal to Flam.
Passing scenery is very beautiful
The train bogies have an old world charm. The windows can be slid down and this is very useful to capture pictures of the spectacular passing scenery- mountains, valleys, rivers, waterfalls, forests, quaint little villages, sheep grazing…I could go on an on. I was virtually glued to the windows, and since the bogie was not crowded, moved freely from one side to the other side, depending on the commentary over the audio system.
The train makes one stop where a platform has been built to view the Kjosfossen waterfalls. The entire journey takes about an hour.

Totally worth it
I personally think this journey is worth the time, money and effort.
