Hello and welcome to ‘My Travel Innings’

After over 27 years, in 2018, I have said good bye to the hectic corporate life to make time and space for activities that bring me joy and contentment.
I have always been fond of travel, triggered by a very interesting subject in school called Geography. While growing up, I travelled during many school vacations to different parts of India. And unlike the predominant air travel of today, those journey’s were mainly performed by trains and buses. I had always nurtured a desire to travel overseas, and when around the age of 24 years or so, an astrologer read my horoscope and opined I would travel to countries under lunar influence soon, I was thrilled beyond description. Three years later, I landed in Muscat, Oman to take up my second regular job after qualifying as a chartered accountant.
Over the years, I have travelled to over 30 countries and several states in India but the hunger to travel and explore has not diminished. The big change that I have observed over the years is that earlier, I would plan to visit countries/places, now I plan for experiences. Many of my travels have been with family while the rest have been with either office colleagues/friends or solo business trips.

Now for some reality check – Travel is not the only passion that I am going to focus on. I strongly believe in a balanced healthy life(perhaps my age is a factor) and have no intention of being on the road for prolonged periods of time. If I am always on a vacation, then I am not on vacation! Quality and not quantity matters to me and while travelling, I do prefer both convenience and comfort .
It took me a fair amount of time to decide on starting a travel blog and I am under no illusion that blogging is easy. I want my blogging innings to last many many years, and that is only possible if blogging remains a fun job, and not just a job requiring frequent postings and monitoring ‘clicks and views’. Between the rabbit and the tortoise, I would rather be the tortoise! I do hope my posts will help relive my travel experiences, which will be very helpful in taking a trip down memory lane when I am 80! After all, isn’t life all about creating memories? But more importantly, I sincerely hope my blog will spur you to start leisure travelling if you are not already doing so and travel more if you are already doing so while you are still hale and hearty! I genuinely believe travel is one facet of life that should not be put off till normal retirement!
