The key reason I chose to travel to Vietnam was to see Ha Long Bay-a beautiful natural wonder dotted with limestone islands and islets and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While Ha Long Bay is located off the coast in Northern Vietnam, its counterpart on land is in Ninn Binh province, located near Hanoi and equally appealing.
This southeast Asian country has a population of little less than 100 million, is densely populated and welcomes over 15 million foreign visitors. I chose to travel around North Vietnam, visiting Hanoi, Ninn Binh, Ha Long Bay and mountainous town of Sapa.

Hanoi
There is really nothing much to see in the capital of Vietnam but it is a convenient base to visit Ha Long Bay, Ninn Binh province and Sapa.

Ha Long Bay
Vietnam’s most famous destination, Ha Long bay, a UNESCO heritage site, is a must see natural wonder.

Ninn Binh
Trang An, referred to as Ha Long bay of land, is also a UNESCO heritage site and a must see natural wonder.

Sapa
This mountainous town provides access to the Fansipian peak, which is the highest peak in the Indo-China region.
